China's logistics sector improves as economy stabilizes [Ugg boots]

China's logistics sector saw improved delivery demand and more investment amid the stabilization of the country's economic growth, the latest data show.

Logistics companies transported goods worth 163.4 trillion yuan (25.96 billion U.S. dollars) between January and November, a rise of 9.7 percent year on year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

The rate was 0.1 percentage point higher than the growth recorded in the first 10 months, the data show.

Logistics companies earned more revenue as market demand picked up. Their revenue grew 6.8 percent year on year from January to October, compared to 3.4-percent growth recorded in the first nine months.

More investment has flowed into the sector, as the sector's fixed asset investment jumped 22.2 percent year on year to 3.5 trillion yuan from January to November. The rate improved from 21.8 percent recorded in the first 10 months.

Meanwhile, the sector's value-added output increased 9.5 percent year on year to 3.2 trillion yuan in the first 11 months, slightly higher than the 9.4 percent logged between January and October.

However, logistics companies have seen operational costs rise, with total logistics costs climbing 11.9 percent year on year to 8 trillion yuan from January to November, compared to 11.5 percent in the first 10 months.

To cut costs and improve efficiency, the government on Wednesday announced a range of measures such as cheaper electricity and water for the production and circulation of agricultural produce.

Obama urges immediate action to resolve "fiscal cliff" [Ugg boots]

U.S. President Barack Obama Friday called on U.S. lawmakers to take "immediate action" to resolve the so-called "fiscal cliff."

Obama struck an optimistic tone at a press conference in the White House after an hour-long meeting, saying he had a "good and constructive" conversation with congressional leaders.

Obama hosted bipartisan leadership of the Congress, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the first time that Obama met these four congressional leaders to discuss the "fiscal cliff" since November.

Obama said he was "modestly optimistic" about a possible plan to avert the looming tax hike and government spending outlays cuts, adding that the dysfunction revealed by the negotiation deadlock has began to dampen business investment and consumption mood.

Senate leaders were working on a possible solution to the high- stakes "fiscal cliff." If they could not find a viable plan, he would ask for a vote on his own proposal, Obama told reporters.

Obama last week called on Congress to pass a pared-down deficit reduction plan of extending the current tax rates for all but the rich with annual income above 250,000 U.S. dollars and extending the nation's unemployment benefits for 2 million people, following the failure of the grand bargain talk with Boehner.

Unless U.S. Congress acts by the end of the year, a combination of tax increases and sweeping spending cuts totaling about 600 billion dollars will kick in, the effects of which could thrust the economy back into recession.

Spain not to ask for ECB aid: economy minister [Ugg boots]

The Spanish government has decided not to ask for the European Central Bank (ECB) aid "nowadays", Minister of Economy and Competitiveness Luis de Guindos said on Wednesday.

De Guindos told the Spanish radio ABC Punto Radio in an interview that "nowadays the government had decided not to ask the financial assistance that would imply the ECB's intervention."

In this sense, he did not rule out the possibility in the future although he assured Spain does not need a bailout.

In his opinion, "Spain needs doubts over the euro's future to disappear", only in this case, the Spanish risk premium would fall and "these would be good news", said the minister.

De Guindos assured that the government will take the most suitable decision according to Spain's interests, because "the government interest is the Spanish economy interest."

He also insisted that in case of asking for assistance, "this would be not the same way as Portugal or Ireland."

De Guindos pointed out the ECB would intervene Spain's debt market in order to reduce funding costs, something the ECB already did in 2011 because the body had bought Spanish debt between August and December 2011.

Asked about the deficit target, De Guindos avoided to assure Spain would meet this deficit but insisted "the most important is that Europe says Spain has taken the necessary measures in order to correct the fiscal situation."

He added that in 2013 "Spain will carry out one of the most intense deficit reductions and budgetary adjustments among countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)."

The minister praised his government's policies, arguing they aim at "improving economic growth and create employment" and emphasizing that despite bad data (Spain has almost five million people unemployed), they are "laying the ground for the future economic recovery."

Meanwhile, the Spanish stock market in Madrid remained closed because of Christmas holidays since last Monday when the risk premium remained below the 400 points falling from 389 points in early trading to the 393 points by closing time.

Also in Madrid, workers from the health and transport sector continued strikes.

Wednesday is the 16th day of strike in the public health sector in Madrid against the new measures adopted by the regional government, which according to strikers, would lead to the privatization of six hospitals and 27 clinic centers.

On the other hand, workers of Madrid's underground are called to protest against the cuts in the 14th partial strike that will last until New Year's Eve.

Life expectancy up, infant mortality down in Brazil [Ugg boots]

Life expectancy in Brazil increased, while infant mortality levels witnessed a significant drop in the past decade, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said here on Thursday.

IBGE said that Brazilian people's life expectancy was 74.08 years (74 years and 29 days) in 2011, up from 73.76 years (73 years and 271 days) in 2000.

Men's life expectancy increased a bit more than women's, but remained seven years less. In 2000, males in Brazil had a mean lifetime of 70.2 years, which rose to 70.6 years in 2011, while female' life expectancy increased less, growing from 77.4 to 77.7 years in the same period.

Infant mortality in the country showed a significant drop from 3.01 percent in 2000 to 1.61 percent in 2011. The mortality of children aged one to five also fell from 3.66 percent to 1.87 percent within the decade.

Based on the latest census, the IBGE data indicates the type of sewage disposal is of fundamental important to levels of infant and child mortality.

In the households access to a comprehensive sanitation system, the mortality of infant and children aged one to five is of 1.46 percent and 1.68 percent respectively. In the households use ditches as their sewage disposal access, the numbers jumped to 2.1 percent and 2.48 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, only 69.4 percent of Brazilian homes enjoyed water and sewage systems.

The IBGE added that Brazil has achieved the UN Millennium Goals five years ahead of schedule on reducing the infant mortality to 1.99 percent by 2015, as the country's proportion fell to 1.94 percent in 2010.

Misapprehension about mining dryer machine [Ugg boots]

There are several understandings of dryer machine, which are the drawbacks to cause the low yield, high cost, huge loss of heat, and the poor quality of the finished product.

1,
in order to improve the yield, the drum of the dryer machine is too
long and the diameter is too long, which causes that the dryer machine
cannot be fully utilized, causing the heat loss and large floor space.

2, in order to increase production,
the temperature is too high, which causes the waste of energy as well
as the decline in quality of the materials being dried. And the color of
the materials becomes black.

3, the wind speed in the drum is
too low, resulting in the looseness of the contact intensity of the
materials and the dynamic and static contact of the hot air, which
decreases the drying efficiency.

4, there is only the downstream drying and the saturated steam in the drying process
cannot be discharged timely so that the running distance in the drum of
the steam is too long, causing that the water is reabsorbed by dry
material

5, the material in the drum of the dryer machine will
not do the “reciprocating motion” (the “reciprocating motion” of
materials in the device is different from the “square multi-loop motion
in the process). The materials in the drum will be pumped by the wind
soon, which makes that the material storage capacity in the drum is too
low, resulting in the reduction of the contact area between the
materials and dynamic and static of the hot air.

6, in order to limit the speed of flow of the material to the discharging direction,
the rotational speed of the drum is limited to the low level so that
the number of times that materials are picked up is also greatly
reduced. Therefore, the number of contacting with the hot air is greatly
reduced.

High-Altitude Wind Energy [Ugg boots]

The wind turbines
that increasingly dot the landscape peak at around 300 feet above
ground, with the massive blades spinning a bit higher. The wind,
however, does not peak at 300 feet. Winds are faster and more consistent
the higher one climbs, maxing out in the jet streams at five miles and
above.

With conventional wind power
facing a litany of obstacles — intermittency, space requirements,
not-in-my-backyard complaints — pushing wind power up into the
atmosphere could take a lot of uncertainty out of the equation. And
despite a host of technical and regulatory challenges, a growing number
of small companies are working hard to get up there within the next few
years, with numerous designs and ideas aimed at harvesting wind power
high in the sky.

“The potential is incredibly high,” says
Cristina Archer, an associate professor of ocean science and engineering
at the University of Delaware. Archer and a colleague published one of
two recent detailed analyses of the total energy that could be extracted
from the planet’s winds to generate electricity. The other was
conducted by well-known climate scientist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution and
Stanford University. Both found an effectively unlimited supply of
power, with vastly more available as one moves up away from the ground.

Germans Brink/Reckermann win gold medal of men's beach volleyball [Ugg boots]

Germans Julius
Brink and Jonas Reckermann beat reigning FIVB world champions Emanuel Rego and
Alison Cerutti of Brazil to win the gold medal of men's beach volleyball at
London Olympics on Thursday.

The Germans won the match by 23-21,
16-21,16-14 in the fully-packed Horse Guard Parade, central London, which
brought the duo their, and the Europe's first Olympic gold medal.

"The
first set was pretty close, from the beginning to the end," Reckermann said. "In
the second the Brazilians played great and we had trouble siding out. In the
third we went point by point and then at 14-11 we lost three match points and we
said 'stop, not this time'. It is unbelievable, there was so much pressure."

"It's great for European beach volleyball. It's great that we were the
ones who won the gold. I hope it will bring up our sport in Europe," he said.

Both undefeated to sail into the final, the two duos met eight times
already in international matches with the Brazilian's leading 5-3 including
winning the last four straight. In their most recent meeting, the Brazilians
came from behind to win in Moscow.

The Germans, however, were in a
better shape in London with less errors and a thorough exhibition of their
blocking skills. The Brazilians made eight service faults, while the Germans
two.

The opener was never so tight in the tournament as the two pairs
tie to 21-all. Brazilian Rego spiked out of sideline to give the Germans the set
point, which the Germans grabbed to win 23-21.

The top-seeded Brazilians
showed their quality at the second set to dominate the court, when their
powerful service posed a huge threat for the rivals' reception. They quickly
build a lead 10-7. Rego, a five-time Olympian, found his form at the back of the
court, while Alison was his usual powerful presence at the net. The Germans
saved one set point, but a Brink service error allowed the Brazilians to draw
level.

The teams continued to push each other hard from the start of the
third set. Germany grabbed the initiative and built up a four-point lead. The
Brazilians saved three match points to draw level at 14-14, but the Germans
immediately gained another and when Rego's shot dropped wide, it gave the
Germans the win and the gold medal.

"Both teams deserved the gold medal,
but winning the silver medal is a great motivation for our country towards the
next Olympic Games in Rio," said Rego.

The 39-year-old is competing in
his fifth consecutive Olympic Games with a gold medal in Athens and bronze medal
in Beijing by playing with Ricardo Santos, while it is the first for the
26-year-old Cerutti.

On whether he will compete for another Olympic gold
medal at the homeland four years later, he said, "I don't know if I will be in
shape still, no one has played an Olympics at that age."

Disappointed as
he is, Cerutti, the younger partner of the Brazilian duo, said the silver medal
still meant a lot to Cerutti, though he had complains for the rule of Rego's
last shot.

"They (the Germans) deserved the win. But the last ball, golf equipment we believed it's in (the
court), and at least they (the referees) should came to have a look, but they
didn't," Cerutti said.Clothes

"But the silver medal is great too. I will share it with
all the Brazilian people. It belongs to my country," he said.

"We saw a Latvian (Ineta Radevica) finish fourth

"The crowd made that big

soon as I heard the crowd I was overwhelmed with their support," she added.

Jones, from Flint, North Wales, was only eight when she first took up
the tough fighting sport and she quickly progressed under the guidance of her

American Misty May-Treanor/Kerri Walsh win gold medal in women's beach volleyball [Ugg boots]

Defending champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh have won their
third consecutive Olympic gold medal in an all-American final in women's beach
volleyball on Wednesday.

The third-seeded May-Treanor/Walsh beat
compatriots Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, the fourth-seed of the event 21-16,
21-16.

They have thus become the first team to win three Olympic beach
volleyball gold medals, while May-Treanor signed off her beach volleyball career

A sold-out
15,000-seat stadium in the iconic Horse Guards Parade was overwhelmed in cheers
and tears, as Ross served out of court to put the heart-pounding final to an
end.

May-Treanor shouted with ecstasy, raising her arms high with
clenched fists, while Walsh knelt down in the sands, burying her face in hands.
Then, the joyful duo ran to the stand for her their families separately, when
the scene of a teary Walsh kissing her two sons in arms aroused another wave of
hails.

"It is my last match, but I'm OK with slipping away because this
has been a special finale. Whether we had finished on top or not, the thing that
I'm proud of is us sticking together," said May-Treanor.

The 35-year-old
couldn't be more proud of their third Olympic gold medal in a row.

"It
means the world. We set our expectations really high as a team, as people and as
players. We want this game to grow and we set the bar very high and we extended
that bar and set it even higher," she said.

The gold medal also served
as a gift for Walsh's birthday, which falls on Aug. 15.

"I hope it's
good enough as I don't know what else I can give her. I wanted to do this for
her and finish in this way for both of us so it could be some birthday," she
said.

As her teammate is retiring, Walsh decided to "sink" deeper in the
sands.

"I'm going to celebrate this, then get ready for stage two of my
beach volleyball career.golf equipment
It'll be very different without Misty there, but she will be a part of it
whether as a friend or even as my coach," said Walsh.

For 2009 FIVB
world champions Kessy and Ross, the silver made up for missing the Beijing 2008
Olympic Games.

"We are really proud of what we did here," Ross said. "At
the beginning of the tournament, we were really running out of that tunnel, but
we got used to it. We are coming home with a medal. But tonight, We like to be
underdogs and come back and they didn't let us back in."

Kessy/Ross lead
the early part of the match before the teams traded points. But
May-Treanor/Walsh sneaked ahead and held their advantage to win the first set
21-16 with a powerful May-Treanor spike.

The second set mirrored the
first set at the beginning when Ross opened the scoring,Nike air max shox which led to the two
sides exchanging points. Once again,May-Treanor/Walsh stepped up their
performance to draw clear.

Kessy/Ross were unable to stay in touch and a
service error gave Walsh and May-Treanor another gold medal to go with the ones
they won at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Earlier, Juliana Felisberta
Silva/Larissa Franca of Brazil rallied back to beat China's Zhang Xi/Xue Chen
11-21, 21-19, 15-12 to win the bronze medal.

"The bronze tastes like
gold. It's our gold medal. We gave all out in this match," said Larissa Franca,
the right hand defender.

Though missing out on the second bronze medal,
the Chinese duo, bronze medallist at Beijing Games, have kept their spirits high
for the future.

"It's not the end of the world. A medal is good, but the
experience is a fortune. See you next time in Rio de janeiro, we will make it,"
said Xue, the younger partner.

On the men's side, Germans Julius Brink
and Jonas Reckermann is to take on reigning FIVB world champions Emanuel Rego
and Alison Cerutti of Brazi in the gold medal match on Thursday

The
Netherlands' Richard Schuil and Reinder Nummerdor will fight Latvia's Janis
